Course Description

This course is designed for individuals eager to enhance their spoken English proficiency; it offers a structured curriculum tailored to various proficiency levels (three levels), from beginner to advanced. Through interactive sessions led by experienced instructors, students will gain confidence and fluency in conversational English. In addition, students will take the utmost benefit of our approach which focuses on practical speaking skills, pronunciation refinement, vocabulary expansion, and real-life situational conversations. In a nutshell, this course will enable learners to articulate their thoughts effectively and master the art of fluent English communication.

 

Total hours for each level:

-Intensive course: 40 hours/5 weeks

-A less intensive course: 30 hours/5 weeks

 

Learning outcomes at each level:

Beginner:

  1. Introducing and greeting each other using common greeting.
  2. Using simple everyday conversations including self, family, hobbies and routine activities.
  3. Practicing pronunciation with special emphasis on fundamental sounds.
  4. Expanding students’ vocabulary through learning high-frequency words, phrases and idioms appropriate for this level.

Intermediate:

  1. Enhancing conversational skills for discussing more diverse topics (e.g., work, travel and personal experiences).
  2. Developing fluency through debates and discussions.
  3. Exploring idiomatic expressions and colloquial language.
  4. Focusing on grammar and sentence structures to convey ideas accurately.

Advanced:

  1. Engaging students in advanced discussions on complex subjects (e.g. some global issues, history, science)
  2. Using sophisticated language expressions and adjusting tone effectively.
  3. Improving public speaking abilities.
  4. Practicing formal and informal language for various contexts.

Evaluation and Assessment:

  1. Oral presentations: Learners will present on assigned topics to demonstrate their speaking fluency, comprehension, and general abilities.
  1. Conversational assessments: Engage in one-on-one or group conversations to assess spoken language proficiency, vocabulary usage, and communication skills.
  2. Role-playing Exercises: Asses students’ ability to apply language in stimulated real-life scenarios to evaluate their conversational skills.
  3. Peer Feedback: Incorporate peer-to-peer assessment where learners assess each other’s speaking abilities based on predefined criteria.
  4. Structured Test: This test focuses on grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and comprehension to measure overall language proficiency; it can be mainly used with beginners.
  5. Continuous Evaluation: Employ ongoing assessment throughout the course to track students’ progress.

Note: Regardless of the type of assessment being used, a rubric will be provided to the learners prior to the evaluation process.
